Scripture
“And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”
—1 John 5:11–12 (NKJV)
Reflection
There are times when believers need to be reminded of what is already true in Christ. We can become discouraged by our struggles, troubled by our failures, or unsettled by the way our emotions rise and fall. Assurance does not rest on our feelings. It rests on the faithfulness of God and the finished work of Jesus Christ.
A prayer of assurance brings us back to the heart of the gospel. In Christ, we are loved, forgiven, received, and kept by grace. We do not have to live as though everything depends on us holding ourselves together. Our hope is in the One who saves and keeps His people. As we come to Him, He quiets fear, gives peace, and reminds us that His promises are true.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You that our hope is in You.
At times, we feel weak, uncertain, and unsettled.
We need You to remind us of what is true.
Your love does not change.
Your promises do not fail.
In You, we are forgiven, received, and held by grace.
Keep us from living under fear, doubt, or condemnation.
Lift our eyes to what You have already done for us.
Teach us to rest in Your faithfulness instead of being ruled by our feelings.
When we are troubled by our failures, remind us of Your mercy.
When the struggle feels long, remind us that You are still with us.
When our hearts are restless, speak Your peace to us again.
Give us a deeper confidence in Your love.
Help us live with the assurance that You are faithful and Your word is true.
In Your name we pray, amen.
