Scripture
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.”
—Proverbs 3:5–6 (NKJV)
Reflection
Christian trust is more than believing that God exists. It is relying on Him because He has shown Himself to be faithful. Again and again in Scripture, God reveals Himself to be wise, good, and true. He is not careless with our lives, and He never fails.
Proverbs 3 calls us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not lean on our own understanding. That contrast is important. We are always leaning somewhere. We can lean on our own thoughts, our own fears, and our own limited perspective, or we can lean on the Lord. And where there is real trust, obedience follows. We acknowledge Him in all our ways and follow Him even when we do not see the whole path ahead.
Prayer
Lord, we come to You today asking You to deepen our trust in You.
You have shown Yourself to be faithful, wise, and good.
You are worthy of our confidence, and You do not fail.
Forgive us for the times we have leaned on our own understanding.
Forgive us for trusting our own fears, our own reasoning, and our own way more than we trust You.
Teach us to trust You with all our hearts.
Help us to rest in Your character and rely on Your wisdom.
Teach us to acknowledge You in all our ways.
When life feels uncertain, steady us.
When we are tempted to fear, remind us that You are near.
When we do not understand what You are doing, help us keep walking by faith.
We place our concerns, our plans, and our future in Your hands.
Lead us in the path You want us to take.
Help us lean on You and not on ourselves.
Thank You for being trustworthy.
Thank You for Your faithful care over our lives.
Keep us steady in heart as we follow You.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
