Reflection
Faith is not wishful thinking or religious optimism. Faith is believing God’s Word and trusting Him to do what He has promised. Its strength does not come from emotional intensity, but from the One in whom it rests. Our faith is not in faith itself. Our faith is in God, in Jesus Christ, and in the truth of what He has spoken. Faith takes Him at His word even when circumstances seem uncertain, delayed, or impossible.
A prayer for faith asks God to strengthen our confidence in Him. It is a prayer to believe His Word more deeply, to resist unbelief, and to keep expecting His faithfulness. Sometimes that means trusting Him for endurance and daily grace. At other times, it means trusting Him for something only He can do. Faith can persevere through long waiting, and it can also ask boldly for what only God can do.
Prayer
Father, strengthen our faith.
Keep us from placing confidence in our feelings, our willpower, or our ability to sound certain.
Teach us to place our faith in You, in Your Son, and in the truth of Your Word.
Teach us to believe what You have said.
Keep us from measuring Your promises only by what we can see.
When our hearts waver, remind us that You are true.
When the situation looks impossible, remind us that nothing is too hard for You.
Help us stand on Your promises.
Help us pray with expectation.
Help us trust that what You have spoken, You are able to perform.
Where faith feels weak, make it stronger.
Where doubt has crept in, drive it back with Your truth.
Where fear tries to take over, help us trust You more deeply.
Teach us to keep believing You in the waiting.
Teach us to keep obeying You when the outcome is not yet visible.
Teach us to keep looking to You with hope.
Thank You that You are faithful.
Thank You that what You promise, You are able to perform.
