Reflection
Prayer is one of God’s gifts to His people. Through prayer, we speak with the One who loves us, knows us, hears us, and welcomes us. Yet many believers struggle to pray consistently. We get distracted, busy, discouraged, tired, or spiritually dull. Sometimes we pray in moments of crisis, but neglect prayer in the ordinary flow of life. Sometimes the desire is there, but the pattern is not.
A prayer for a consistent prayer life asks God to help us return to Him faithfully and often. It is not a prayer for mere routine. It is a prayer for steadiness, desire, and perseverance. We ask God to make prayer a real part of our daily lives, to keep us from drifting into prayerlessness, and to draw us back to Himself again and again.
Prayer
Father, teach us to pray and help us remain faithful in prayer.
Thank You that You welcome us into Your presence.
Thank You that we do not come to a distant God, but to One who hears and cares.
Forgive us for the ways we have neglected prayer.
Forgive us for the times we have relied on ourselves more than we have relied on You.
Stir in us a deeper desire to seek You.
Teach us to come to You daily, not only when life is hard, but in every season.
Help us build a life that makes room for prayer.
When our minds are scattered, help us turn our attention back to You.
When we are tired, strengthen us.
When we feel dry or discouraged, give us grace to keep praying.
Teach us to pray with honesty, watchfulness, and thanksgiving.
Teach us to bring You our worship, our burdens, our questions, and our needs.
Let prayer become a steady part of the way we walk with You.
Keep drawing us back to Yourself.
Make us people who seek You often and gladly.
