Pray for people to discover their gifts and individual places within the Body of Christ.
Devotional Thought
Every Christian has at least one spiritual gift that benefits the Body of Christ (1 Peter 4:10-11). A spiritual gift is an ability empowered by the Holy Spirit that is used in the ministry of the Church. Some of the spiritual gifts mentioned in the Bible include:
- Prophecy
- Service
- Teaching
- Exhortation
- Leadership
- Mercy
- Wisdom
- Knowledge
- Faith
- Healing
- Miracles
- Discerning of spirits
- Tongues and Interpretation of tongues
- Apostle
- Helps
- Administration
- Evangelist
- Pastor
- Hospitality
Practical Moment
Here are some principles to follow to discover your spiritual gifts.
- First, seek God to give you wisdom and direction.
- Second, locate yourself in a loving and supportive atmosphere such as a Bible study, Sunday school class, or men or women’s fellowship.
- Third, seize on opportunities where there is a need, and you can meet the need.
- Fourth, step out in faith with an attitude of humility and a willingness to serve.
- Finally, if you indeed have a particular spiritual gift, the gift itself will produce results and the community of believers will recognize it! For example, if you have a gift of evangelism, then people will regularly get saved. If you have a gift of leadership, then people will naturally follow you. Whatever your gifts are will become apparent to you, to church leaders, and to the Body of Christ.
