The peace of God transcends human understanding. The peace of God is both the peace that God gives and the serenity in which he lives. Peace was one of the main themes of Jesus’ ministry. Jesus Christ is our peace. He enables us to have peace with God and with one another. In fact, Isaiah describes him as “The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). “Peace,” in Scripture, is a comprehensive term, which includes the ideas of completeness, wholeness, fullness, well being, and prosperity. The term often suggests having a sense of tranquility, repose, or quiet rest.
Jesus said in Matt. 11:28-30, “Come unto Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and My burden is light.” The yoke of Jesus does not lead to bondage, fear, and anxiety; the yoke of Jesus leads to freedom, rest, and divine peace.
Christ is the embodiment and the source of supernatural peace. In fact, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is sometimes called the Gospel of peace. Ephesians 6, for example, refers to the Gospel of peace as one of the pieces of our spiritual armor. Therefore, the peace of God is a weapon against anxiety. My prayer for you today is that you will experience the peace and power of God in a special way. I invite you to watch the following short video prayer for peace and wholeness.
