Faith is an essential aspect of the Christian life. Faith requires believers to put their trust in God at all times and in all circumstances. One important lesson that every believer must learn in his or her walk of faith is how to wait on God. God’s ways and thoughts are higher than ours (see Isaiah 55:8-9). Consequently, his timing often does not correspond with ours. I invite you to read the following blog for a few insights on God’s timing that I believe will encourage you and help to build your faith.
I NEED A MIRACLE NOW!
The Lord has been dealing with me recently about the word now. Many readers may have heard the expression: “God is a right now God.” Allow me to comment briefly on the nowness of God. God is a God of the now, but this does not mean that God gives us everything that we want at the snap of a finger. Yet, the nowness of God does mean that we have immediate access to his presence and his power. God is always with us and he is always there for us. Furthermore, our God has infinite resources at his disposal. So the time to trust him, the time to believe him, is now, for he will never have any more power than he has at this very moment!
I AM
In the Old Testament, God reveals himself as YHWH. Some readers are more familiar with the word: “JEHOVAH.” YHWH basically means “I AM.” God is the “I AM,” the SELF-EXISTENT ONE, the VERY PRESENT LORD, and the GOD OF THE NOW. He says to his people: “I AM your DELIVERER, HEALER, PEACE, JOY, STRENGTH, and TOTAL VICTORY! I AM the GOD WHO IS WITH YOU and I AM all these things right now!”
THE NOWNESS OF JESUS CHRIST
In the New Testament, the provisions of God come to us though his Son, Jesus Christ, who also shares in the Father’s eternal nowness. Christ says in John 8:58: “[B]efore Abraham was [born], I AM.” Hebrews 13:8 also declares that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Just as the Father is eternal, all-powerful, and unchanging, so is Christ eternal, all-powerful, and unchanging. Furthermore, everything that we need and everything that we will ever need are present in him, right now. Even the name “Jesus” means “YHWH is Salvation Now!” Jesus has every available resource to rescue us from the things that diminish or destroy us in our spirits, minds, bodies, relationships, and other aspects of our humanity.
TRUST GOD RIGHT NOW
Believers must learn to trust in the Lord’s power, his wisdom, and his love. The Lord has the power to do what we need. His wisdom determines the best time and the best manner in which to work and his love assures us that his actions are in our best interests. We must learn to trust in the Lord’s abundant, timely, and adequate provision for us. Faith in Christ says: “I know that the Lord is working out this difficult situation for my good! I believe that my miracle could very well be today! However, even if my miracle does not come today, I know that the God of today is also the God who controls tomorrow. Therefore, my miracle is on the way!”
A WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT
• Maybe you have been diagnosed with a life-threatening disease, but your miracle is on the way!
• Perhaps you have had financial difficulties for many years, but your miracle is on the way!
• Maybe your enemies are laughing in your face, but your miracle is on the way!
• Perhaps deadlines have come and gone, but your miracle is on the way!
Child of God, regardless of what your need may be, do not give up until you receive what the Lord has for you. God has not forgotten you. He will bless you in due season. Keep trusting him and he will answer you in the manner that brings him the greatest glory and you the maximum benefit. Your miracle may even be today!
