OUR VISION, MISSION, AND BELIEFS
Wilfred Graves Ministries, Inc. exists for the glory of God and the support of his gracious work of salvation in the world. Our vision is for all people to experience wholeness (shalom) and total life transformation and to become productive followers of the Lord Jesus Christ by the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Our mission is to develop mature Christ-followers through expository teaching and practical application of biblical truth. We believe in the synthesis of knowledge and critical reflection, belief and positive action. We focus on evangelism, spiritual formation, Christian scholarship, and leadership training (see below). We strive to be a loving, growing, and vibrant ministry of the Word and Spirit that meets the needs of the total person and prepares God's people for effective service in the world.
- ABOUT THE BIBLE
We believe in the divine inspiration and authority of the Scriptures. The Bible is the written Word of God; it is God’s infallible written revelation of himself to humankind. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are a complete and sufficient record of what we need to know about God, his plan of salvation, and his expectations of us.
We believe that the books of the Bible are entirely trustworthy and true. The biblical writers, as they were moved by the Holy Spirit, faithfully and accurately communicated God’s will, provisions, requirements, and promises to us. Therefore, we look to the Bible as our full and final authority on all matters of faith and conduct.
- ABOUT GOD
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Commonly known as the Trinity). While we cannot fully comprehend God's divine nature, it is possible for people to know him and relate to him personally. In the Bible, God reveals himself as Creator, Sustainer, and Supreme Ruler of all things. He is also the source of all that makes life possible and meaningful. Throughout history he has expressed his desire to be our God and to have a personal, loving, thriving, eternal relationship with us. We believe that God cares for us and that he wants what is best for us.
- ABOUT JESUS CHRIST
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is fully divine and fully human. He is the eternal Son of God who took on human flesh and became a man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. We affirm his sinless life, his miracles, and his vicarious and atoning death on the cross which paid the penalty for the sins of humankind against God.
We believe in the Lord’s bodily Resurrection from the dead (which occurred after three days), his appearances to eyewitnesses, and his ascension into heaven. Christ now sits at the right hand of the Father as savior and mediator between God and humanity. He will visibly and personally return to earth to complete his eternal plan.
- ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity. He is equal in power and glory to the Father and Son and is to be worshipped along with them. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells believers and applies to them the benefits of salvation that Christ has made freely available to those who put their trust in him. The Holy Spirit is given to believers as a gift and he functions to lead, strengthen, teach, and empower them for Godly living and for effective ministry.
- ABOUT HUMAN BEINGS
We believe that human beings (male and female) were created in the image and likeness of God for the purpose of having a relationship with him. In the beginning, the first man and woman enjoyed unhindered communion with the Creator. However, when God gave them a simple test of obedience, they failed miserably. Consequently, evil entered the world, and humanity’s intimate communion with God was shattered. Humankind experienced brokenness of the highest order, and all creation suffered from the ill effects of sin. The disobedience of the first man and woman subjected humanity to sickness, disease, pain, physical death, and spiritual separation from God. Creation itself also experienced futility and corruption when the human relationship with God was broken. Humankind would be doomed to eternal separation and destruction unless God intervened.
Thankfully, God provided a way in which human beings could have fellowship with him once again and enjoy the peace that had been lost. He provided a way in which we could be reconciled to him and enjoy eternal fellowship. Reconciliation came through the death of his Son, Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ shed his blood on the cross and died in our place for our sins so that we could have eternal life and experience peace with God through faith in him.
- ABOUT RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
We believe in the gospel: Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead so that we could have eternal life and relationship with God through faith in him. There is no possibility of a relationship with God apart from salvation. Salvation is an act of God's grace alone, not a result of human effort. However, salvation must be willingly received by us. Several things that we need to do to receive salvation are as follows:
- We must realize that we are sinners who need God (Romans 3:23).
- We must repent of our sins (2 Corinthians 7:9-10).
- We must believe on the Lord (Acts 16:31-32).
- We must accept Jesus Christ as Lord (Romans 10:9-10).
When we receive salvation, we are put into right relationship with God and God renews or regenerates us by his Holy Spirit. Furthermore, the Spirit comes to live within us and to transform our character into one that is more Christ-like. If you desire to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then please follow these simple instructions: Receive Jesus Now.
A proper understanding of salvation rests upon the solid foundation of the Trinity. God the Father plans or arranges salvation and sends the Son; Jesus Christ accomplishes the Father’s plan by dying for the sins of humanity; the Holy Spirit applies the work of Christ to our lives. According to Ephesians 1:3-14, the Father chooses us and accepts us as his children; the Son secures our redemption and the forgiveness of our sins; and the Holy Spirit comes to live within us as a guarantee of our divine inheritance. - ABOUT THE CHRISTIAN LIFE
We believe that growth in the Christian life requires nurture and cultivation of our walk with the Lord. Once our relationship is re-established with God, we naturally will want to spend time with him and know him better. The Holy Spirit enlightens us as we read God’s Word (the Bible), as we communicate with him in prayer, and as we enter into loving relationships (Biblical community) with other Christ-followers. In this way we begin to know God more deeply and intimately. As we become acquainted with God, we will desire to be like him and please him. This process of spiritual development motivates us to seek ways to serve God and prepares us to spend eternity in fellowship with him. - ABOUT THE CHURCH
We believe that the church consists of all who believe in and accept the person and work of Jesus Christ. When Jesus returned to Heaven, He sent the Holy Spirit to empower the church to continue His ministry until the Second Coming. The church as the body of Christ participates with God to advance his kingdom on earth. The church proclaims the good news that Jesus saves, heals, delivers, restores, blesses, etc. Available to the church are various spiritual gifts that confirm her message and make her more effective in serving people. Gifts of healings, for example, manifest the love of God and reveal his power to restore broken bodies, souls, and spirits.
Our Ministry Focus
The four areas of ministry focus express the passion and commitment of the leadership and supporters of Wilfred Graves Ministries. These areas are at the heart of preparing people to grow in Christ and to become productive Christ-followers. Narrowing our focus to these four areas enables the ministry to use its resources effectively as it lives out God’s vision and mission for the church.
