Scripture
"And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy."
—Acts 2:17–18 (NKJV)
"For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, And floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, And My blessing on your offspring"
—Isaiah 44:3 (NKJV)
Reflection
God is able to pour out His Spirit in fresh ways upon His people. Throughout Scripture, the outpouring of the Spirit brings renewal, courage, repentance, joy, witness, and power. We do not ask for a fresh outpouring because God is absent, but because we long for His presence and work to be known among us in deeper and more life-giving ways.
A prayer for fresh outpouring is a prayer for more of what God delights to give. We ask that the church would be awakened, that Christ would be exalted, and that people would be drawn to salvation and renewed devotion to Him. We ask for this not for spectacle or religious excitement, but for the glory of Jesus, the strengthening of His church, and the blessing of the world.
Prayer
Father, pour out Your Holy Spirit afresh upon Your people.
Come to those who are thirsty.
Come to the dry places.
Come to hearts that have grown weary, to churches that have grown weak, and to lives where witness has grown faint.
Bring new life where things have become dull.
Renew prayer, worship, holiness, love, and faithfulness in the church.
Stir up fresh hunger for Your presence, Your Word, and Your ways.
Glorify Jesus Christ among us.
Let His name be honored.
Let His gospel be proclaimed with clarity and power.
Let His beauty be seen in the life of His people.
Strengthen us for witness.
Strengthen us for holy living.
Strengthen us for loving service, spiritual gifts, boldness, compassion, and faithful obedience.
Move among old and young.
Move among leaders and members.
Move in churches, homes, campuses, and communities.
Draw people to repentance, salvation, healing, and deeper devotion to Christ.
Do among us what only You can do.
Send a fresh work of Your Spirit that brings life, awakening, and joy to Your people.
And in all of it, magnify Jesus.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
