Scripture
"Will You not revive us again, That Your people may rejoice in You?"
—Psalm 85:6 (NKJV)
"O LORD, I have heard Your speech and was afraid; O LORD, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known; In wrath remember mercy."
—Habakkuk 3:2 (NKJV)
Reflection
Revival is not merely heightened emotion or increased activity. Revival is the renewing work of God among His people. It is what happens when hearts that have grown dull are awakened again, when love for God is restored, when repentance deepens, when prayer becomes fervent, and when the church is stirred to holiness, worship, and faithful witness.
Revival begins with God’s people. We ask for revival because we know how easily we can become distracted, tired, complacent, or spiritually cold. A prayer for revival asks God to breathe fresh life into what has grown weak, to awaken what has gone dormant, and to restore the joy, reverence, hunger, and spiritual seriousness that mark a people who are alive to Him.
Prayer
Father, revive us again.
Renew our love for You where it has cooled.
Deepen prayer where it has become shallow.
And help us worship You with reverence and passion.
Show us the places where complacency, distraction, and spiritual coldness have settled in.
Call us back to repentance, holiness, and wholehearted devotion.
Breathe fresh life into dry places.
Stir up hunger for Your presence, Your Word, and Your ways.
Restore the joy of walking closely with You.
Wake up Your church.
Renew in us a love for prayer, truth, holiness, and faithful witness.
Pour strength into weary hearts and renew reverence where we have grown casual.
Do among us what only You can do.
Let renewal begin in us and spread through Your people for the glory of Jesus Christ.
Thank You that You are able to restore what has grown weak.
Thank You that You still awaken hearts and renew Your church.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
