Reflection
Jesus calls His people to bear witness to Him. That witness includes our words, but it is not limited to them. The way we live, the way we endure, and the way we treat others can all point to Christ. To be a faithful witness is to make Jesus known with our lips and with our lives.
This witness does not come from personality alone. It is sustained by the Holy Spirit. We need grace to speak when the moment comes, and wisdom to know how to do it well, and lives that give credibility to the message we proclaim. A prayer to be a faithful witness asks God to make us ready, faithful, and unashamed as we point others to Jesus Christ.
Prayer
Father, make us faithful witnesses of Jesus Christ.
Do not let us hide the light You have placed in us.
Do not let us live in a way that keeps others from seeing the beauty of Christ.
Open our eyes to the people around us.
Help us notice the ones who are weary, searching, burdened, or in need of hope.
Give us the right words to speak in each situation.
Give us love in the way we speak.
Give us courage to name Jesus without fear or embarrassment.
Let our lives support the message we share.
Make us honest, gracious, steady, and kind in a way that reflects Christ well.
Let the way we live make the gospel more visible, not less.
Create moments where Your truth can be spoken clearly.
Open doors for witness, and help us be ready when those doors open.
Teach us to speak of what Christ has done with humility, clarity, and faith.
Use our words, our choices, our service, and our love to point others to Jesus.
Let our witness bring glory to You and help others come nearer to Christ.
Thank You that You do not leave us to this work alone.
By Your Holy Spirit, make us faithful witnesses.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Take a Moment
Who in your life may be receiving from your witness right now, whether through your words, your life, or both?
If this prayer blessed you, please like and share it with someone who may need it today. May God make you a faithful witness to Jesus Christ.
